Some Historical Notes

Pro-Integrity and Anti-Corruption

Greetings!
We have appreciated joining with others to commemorate Global Integrity Day (GI), launched on 9 June 2020. This special, annual day is something which we have been calling for since December 2016, to shine the global spotlight on moral health for a more-whole world (see Global Integration Update, January 2019).  It is an impetus for people to live in integrity always in every area of their lives.

Annual themes have focused on racism (2020), poverty (2021), health (2022), faith-based champions (2023), and human trafficking (2024). Each annual theme includes many curated resources and "spotlight events.

The original and ongoing purpose for GID is to be a positive day to reflect, teach, and collaborate on ways to integrate integrity in every area of one's life--and throughout the entire year. It is a strategic day day to promote a) cultivating lifestyles of integrity from the individual through the international levels; b) working together to address the causes and consequences of corruption in its many forms; and c) collaborating for just and equitable societies marked with wellbeing for all persons/peoples and for the planet. See  GID's Four Features in the "About GID" section for more information.

We would like to see a coordinating group form to take GID forward and to branch out into several additional directions. It would encourage the active involvement of colleagues, organizations, and networks working together to be the people we need who can help to build the world we need.

We also hope in due course that it will be designated both as a new United Nations International Day and as a companion day to the already designated International Anti-Corruption Day (9 December). In the meantime, we invite friends and colleagues around the world, and organizations large and small, to join together in solidarity, finding common ground for the common good, to commemorate this special day on 9 June and throughout the coming years.
